What would have to change for there to be no war?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for July 13, 2008:

It's very possible that there are powerful people who benefit from war, and they will do everything they can to make sure that wars keep happening.

Even if this is true, I believe that it's possible to become a people who solve our problems peacefully, but we've got to be strong enough.

It's like this question from back in the sixties that goes something like:  "What would happen if somebody gave a war, but nobody came?"

I've just finished writing a review of a book, and I'd like to share it with you.

This book is about learning to celebrate our differences and to quit seeing those who are different than you as some kind of enemy to be feared and/or scorned.

This is one of many books and songs that have this kind of lesson.

I'd like to share some songs along those lines such as this one...

If The World Had a Front Porch

When we get to that place where we become more like a big family instead of strangers, we might have our disagreements and even our arguments, but they won't escalate into a full-blown war!

What would engage more people in creating a positive future?

Having the confidence that they actually can.

If people have the mindset that trying to change things is all in vain, they might not spend very much energy on doing so.

People need to have the mindset that what they do can and does make a difference.

Therefore, the secret to getting people to invest time in creating a positive difference is convincing them that this isn't just some kind of a pipe-dream.
