Whose life would you like to be living?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for August 08, 2007:
Frankly, I don't want to be living any life but my own--though I would like to be living the life of the me who once weighed in between 125 and 135 lbs. with my ideal weight being 128 lbs. When I get the chance to scan some pictures of me like that, I'll share them in my photo gallery here (which I've just started building with the picture I'm featuring today).
Anyway, I'm happy being me, so why be somebody else!?!
However, it would be fun to become an adorable stuffed dog named Rascal (pictured above) once in awhile.
Being Rascal would mean getting my face lovingly washed by my wonderful human. The real Rascal gives his human a dirty look whenever the latter suggests that the two of them go take a shower together, but, if I were Rascal, I would have no problem with that whatsoever.
Actually, I WOULD have somewhat of a problem with that, because the shower there is nasty. It's a community shower (shared one-at-a-time by several residents) that will only stay on for about three minutes at a time, and one never knows if the water will be just right or if it will either chill or scald you.
So, I'll take that back about the shower except for when "my" human decides to go on an overnight trip and we stay in a nice motel--and, from what I've heard, the real Rascal usually stays home then.
Being Rascal would also mean that my hair would get tenderly brushed and I would get petted and cuddled a lot. It would also mean that I'd spend each and every night falling asleep in my human's arms after we said our bedtime prayers together.
What I'd like the most about being Rascal is just knowing that my human wouldn't give me up even for a million dollars and will love me forever.
You see, Rascal has a very special human!
As you probably gathered from the description of the shower, Rascal's human is on a limited income--yet, he spends quite a bit of that income doing wonderful things for the homeless youth in his area.
One of his dreams is to open up a residential and resource center in the city where he currently lives and to charter other ones.
He's looking for ways to fund this, and one of those ways is through grants. Our friend and fellow dreamer, Dana, has come up with one means of getting grant money.
Please check it out and, if you feel led to (and we hope that you do!), leave a comment about why you find this dream worthy of a grant.
Anyway, Rascal's one lucky dog--but I'm very blessed as well!
I don't really want to be Rascal--not 100% of the time, anyway--but I certainly have a lot of love in my heart for him and his human, and I'm glad that the three of us are friends!

Help

Russell for sometime has wanted a dog, someone he could share his life with and give the love to that he never received from a family, that he never had. Due to his disability income he has not been able to afford a place where pets are allowed.
One day Russell was walking through the Salvation Army Thrift Store and our eyes met. It was love at first sight. I have been with Russell over three years. We watch TV together, take walks together and sleep side by side.
There is a lot more to me than Russell can imagine, but he knows there is something going on that he don't quite understand.
You might say that Russell and I rescued each other.
Rascal
Hi, Rascal!
I think you have Russell pegged pretty well (an understatement). I'm glad that you both rescued each other. You're one special angel dog, and listening to him talk about you always melts my heart. I love how you always seem to know when Russell needs somebody to pet his face. I don't know this 100% (though I'd say that I'm at least 97% sure), but I have a feeling that it's one of my dad's assignments to help keep you animated. When Russell and I have facetime one of these days, you'd better come along so I can hug the stuffings out of you (Don't worry! Not literally!).
Love,
AJ :-)
